    Fell Runners on South Coast?

I've got vague recollections that some forumites live near the south coast. If that's you (or anyone can remember who it is), I have a friend living near Hayward's Heath who is getting back into running - he used to do MM and other bits of fell running - and I'm trying to put him in touch with some non-road runners down there.

    Cheers

    Richard

I'm in Brighton; do a lot of running on the downs, but only been running up north once to date...that may well change in the near future though.

Ray, Milton Keynes is NOT "up North."

Why do you mention Milton Keynes?

    Richard,

Your mate can email me - [email protected] and I'll do my best to fill him in - not with my fist though!

Because although I live in Brighton, I'm a member of Milton Keynes AC - I work up there two days a week, and they are days which coincide with the MKAC training night (none of the Brighton clubs fit in with my hectic family and work life scheduling). Also he mentioned it because he's a cheeky wotsit!

    Cheers - Raymond

p.s. Just about everything is up north for me - except the Palace pier - but even I know the real north begins a bit further up the M1 than Milton Keynes.

"my hectic family and work life scheduling"

Know what you mean. Condisering joining my local club (Chichester or Worthing) but can't see when I'd get the time. You seem to spend all your day posting here Raymond!

Alright lads, I'm based in Bucks and noticed there's a couple of races on the South Downs on 29 July, ones a 30 miler thats part of the Montrail series and the other a 5.5m fell race. Do you have any details as the Haywards Heath website doesn't say very much about them?

    Cheers

The Downland Ultra looks good, and if I wasn't camping in Cornwall I'd give it a go. It's along the Southdowns way from Clayton to Itford - west to east - where you turn and retrace your steps. It's all on OS Explorer 122 .

Some long inclines but nothing too steep. The ground will be hard under foot even if it has been raining; it's mostly chalk and flint tracks which drain very quickly. If you do it post up something to let us know how it went/what it's like.

    Cheers - Raymond
