    Sickness and Diarrhoea virus,

I have been laid low for the last couple of days because of the above, it has kinda given me a chance to join here so not all bad, however I was just getting back to fitness after being involved with other sports over the winter and injury, so now find myself laid up again.

Anybody else had this bug? and how long before you got back to proper training? We have a club trail run at the weekend of just under 8miles, I don’t think I could run it competitively but I am thinking of a jog round.

Had a 24hr sickness and diarrhoea bug on my second day of a week and a half's leave last Friday (typical). In bed all day with a temperature and everything. Symptoms going next morning, but still felt weak and appetite didn't fully return until Sunday. Still managed a quick run round Pen y Ghent with the missus on the Saturday. Been 100% since Monday.

    Hope you're feeling better soon.

V+D has multiple causes - some causes people bounce back from very quickly, others the effects linger for longer. Play it by ear, and take it easy to start with. A couple of days off will do no harm, and then a cautious gentle outing or two will give you a good idea as to where you stand.

You might want to plan your first couple of runs with emergency pit stops in mind. I speak from experience..

Southernsoftie, your time scale of illness sounds the same as mine, I am feeling better today in myself, tummy still a bit unsettled just windy (sorry too much detail) no worries about taking loo roll on runs, one of my training mates can’t do the first 3 miles of a training run without having to pop behind a bush, so he will always have some with him. One of the club mates rang tonight for our normal Thursday run, but I left it and will go for a gentle run with the wife tomorrow then will see how that goes, if all well I will run on Saturday.

OKmum33 and Steve I hope you are both back up to full speed soon, I got septicaemia while in Agile and Bute from what started as insect bite on my hand last year(a warning there) that knocked me off for over a month, was just getting on my top form as well, so you both have my sympathy I know how you feel.

Thanks to the rest for all your advice.

Well did a slow steady 4 miles flat running with the wife tonight, felt OK no need to slip behind the bushes, and found out the club run is not till Sunday so looking good for a run, happy days.

Good news Tahr, pleased to say my bowels of satan are virtually back to normal now, appetite's back too. Was gutted to miss the Haworth Hobble but planning on a long run on sunday to make up for it, sympathies to anyone else still suffering with it.
