    49 or 50 somethings?

I turn 49 this December and I fancy a long (ish) challenge to commemorate the start of my 50th year. I'm nowhere near fit enough to do a 49 or 50 peak 24 hour round so I'm looking for something around 12 hours which involves the number 49 or 50...

I'm not usually short of ideas but this one has me a bit stumped

    Any suggestions?

Rotherham was about 50 I seem to remember. December I think.

How about the Over The Hill series at www.gofar.org.uk or the Joss Naylor Challenge - no 49 or 50 something but all good days out specifically aimed at the more mature runner!!

Think I'll pass on that Blackfoot. I did three (different) ascents of Parlick last night and that was a couple too many...

Joss Naylor and the OTH are out cos I'm not 50 til' Dec 09

Don't fancy the Rotherham (for some reason)

I have been trying to invent a 50 mile route (or a 49...) and have also looked into the possibility of bagging 49 or 50 peaks in the Lakes but in the smallest possible area. Obviously, they would tend to be mostly piffling little tops but if Watsons Dodd is a BG peak then I'm thinking that anything goes...

It will be my challenge anyway, and I don't mind how piffling the tops might be. I still haven't concluded where the greatest concentration might be though... I'm thinking it would have to be a max of 50 miles and a max of 15000ft of ascent. Is it possible? 50 tops in 50 miles???

You don't have to be 50 to do them you know, unless you want the certificate

I'm thinking of doing the Joss Naylor or Lakeland traverse this winter as I like the look of them.

I know Joss for his seventieth did lots of minor tops so you could do that but I don't think you'll be able to keep it down to 12 hours

Yes you do not have to be over 50 to do the OTH series and you still get a certificate! But I have to agree pioneering your own route and doing something original is well worth the extra effort.

Have you considered beer drinking, or something similar?
Don't roll with a pig in poo. You get covered in poo and the pig likes it.
