    Talking Chased by dogs??????

I was at Bakewell Show the other day, watching the hounds. Apparently they love trailing the scent of a runner who is set off across country before them. So naturally i thought , has anyone tried this and been pursued by this pack of bloodhounds? It sounds like jolly good fun, don't you know. What what!

Oh yes, this was one of the high points of the Fairfield Race. The fell race would go off and then, an hour later thay would set the trail hounds off on the same route. So by the time the runners were returning back towards the show field, the hounds would be streaming in. I gotta tell you, the old movie cliche about a man on the run keeping ahead of hounds in the woods is so inaccurate. From the moment you hear baying in the distance to the moment they come streaming past is but a few minutes. They are fast!!

Do I spot a opening for a 'Race the Hounds' handicap type fell race ??
Don't roll with a pig in poo. You get covered in poo and the pig likes it.

Not been chased by dogs but I always stop running when I get close as I don't trust 'em..
If one more owner says 'he's harmless' or ' it's ok she doesn't bite' 'keep running it's ok?!' when the damn dog is barking, slobbering and champing at me feet, yeah right

But its true DanAzz. They only go for you if they detect weakness or fear. Act like you are the alpha male as you jog imperiously past and most won't bother. The only ones to watch out for are the jack russells....true psycho's!

    thanks wheeze , good stuff.
I agree with the alpha male thing. My dog is a big wuss so it doesn't count but most dogs just want to sniff ya. Carry a few tasty morsels for them, they'll be much more amenable.
