    Jelly Babies

Not sure if this fits in 'Health' or 'Equipment' but, Jelly Babies are a perenial favourite of fellrunners; they usually have bovine gelatine in them so are unsuitable for vegetarians. Does anybody know if veggie friendly 'Babies are available and, if so, are they any good?

Not too sure. However, I have just bought some Natural Confectionery Company Dino Mix today ! I compared the ingredients to the Jelly Babies & there seemed to be less ingredients in them. However, they do still have bovine gelatine in them. I'll let you know how they perform on my 18 miler this afternoon !

Wine Gums for me as they don't have that slightly powdery nature of jelly babies.. Think they've still got bovine gelatine though.

If you don't mind spending a bit more, Sharkies energy sweets are excellent.

I can confirm, following my windy 12 miler over Ilkley & Burley Moor yesterday, that Natural Confectionery Company Dino Mix are a much better mid run snack than Jelly Babies. No claggy aftertaste & a nicer, more natural flavour. Case closed.

    Except for the wind issue

Aren't all sweets the wrong type of sugar, as in not isotonic so not ideal to assimilate? Ok for munchies though i suppose.
