    Cool Throat Cancer and beyond.

Hi to all of you who responded to my original post in January, many thanks for all the kind wishes and various suggestions. I was really humbled by the response.

Sorry I have not posted for a while but I have had some set backs which I'm now trying to work my way through. The good news is that in March I did start running again on the local High Peak Trail. The first day I ran for just 20 minutes (ten out and ten back) it was very slow and I had to stop every few minutes. Over a week or so I went back and added five minutes to each run, and gradually walked instead of stopping. I managed to get up to 50 minutes on the last run I did.

During March I also managed to walk up to the summit of Snowdon with my partner, via the PYG up and the Miners down, no problems at all and was well pleased.

Unfortunately since then I have not been able to do much due to the setbacks with my health. It's been quite frustrating after such a promising start. However as I said I'm working through things and hope to start again soon.

I will post again once I'm back in my "Walsh's".

    Namaste

Zenrunner, I wonder if a run/walk method might help you at present. Jeff Galloway presents it in a helpful, systematic way, particularly in his book "Running til you're 100". As an old runner I find it is specially helpful, as by changing the run/walk ratio even in mid-run one can make any outing harder or much much easier at will. It is gentle on the body, only the ego suffers when not doing "joined up running". But a zen runner should be able to cope with that! Good luck.

    Hi Alexandra, and thanks:

I have been doing a sort of run/walk routine, but not structured, more in keeping with just trying to cover some ground until my body gets stronger again.

I'll go on Amazon later and check out "Running till your 100".

One thing I have decided to do next time out is re-acquaint myself with the "Chi Running" method. I used to do this all the time, but then I drifted back into my old habits, so lets see what happens, and I will keep you informed.

I wonder what spambot posted this? Don't click on the link anybody, just in case.

Which brings us back to the original thread. How are you doing, Zenrunner? Any updates?
