He came 2nd at the World Trial at Glenridding last year, very impressive performance!

    Re: Settle Hills

All 3 of my family enjoyed the racing yesterday and the rest of the BBH contingent running for Lancs or BBH also had a great day.
Thanks to those at Settle Harriers for hosting such a good race and adding the Inters as well.
Just wondered - who was the commentator on the loudspeaker at the finish - he did well?

The one and only Mr Roger Ingham MBE from Skipton, described as "Probably the foremost living authority on professional fell racing".

Yes of course we know of him - we were just wondering how he knew MrsWP was a Burnley fan - he mentioned it as she came in to the finish.

There's a problem with the Settle Harriers web site at the moment so here are the details for the race coming up this Sunday. It's a great race - don't miss it!

Settle Hills Race this year is on Sunday 29 June 2014. Junior U16 and U18 races will be held as last year. (start details below). Entry for seniors is £5, juniors £4, on the day only. The race finishes at the rugby club, where the bar will be open.

    Start time
    s & Distances:
Seniors: 10:30am Settle Market Place, which is a short walk (5 mins) or quicker jog from the rugby club. 11.3km/400m climb
Juniors: 10:30am The Junior Courses start up the hill from the Market Place, 500m along the route at the top of the gravelled lane ‘Banks Lane’, in the first field [GR824641]. Allow 15min walk time from the Rugby club to the start (about 1.2km), signage and marshals will be in place to direct people. 6.9km/250m climb
Junior competitors may leave clothing or bags at the start and it will be brought back to the Rugby Club.
    Free parking and showers
    Cakes and Refreshments Stall.

Registration is at North Ribblesdale Rugby Club in Settle, which is right next door to Greenfoot public car park, BD24 9QH. There are toilets and changing facilities here too.

From the south, come into Settle off the A65 roundabout, under the railway bridge, turn right at the Falcon Manor Hotel and follow the road down and round to the car park and rugby club.

From the north, come through Settle, past the Peugeot garage on the left, down the hill, turn left at the Falcon Manor Hotel and follow the road down and round to the car park and rugby club.

FRA rules apply, and kit requirement is as follows: FULL FRA kit, ie. waterproof jacket and trousers, map, compass, whistle. There will be checks! We will make changes to this rule on the day if the weather is glorious of course. It is also strongly recommended that runners carry some water – especially if the weather is hot. FULL FRA KIT NOW ALSO REQUIRED FOR JUNIORS.

Terrain and map: The senior race has a bit of everything – grassy paths, tarmac at the beginning and end, rocky paths, tussocky moorland and it includes some steep climbs and descents. The terrain is very uneven in places. It’s an enjoyable route. The junior race is the first loop marked on the map, cutting out the northern loop (and some very rough, uneven ground). The biggest descent is off High Hill towards the end, and there is a water /first aid station at the bottom of this hill at the road crossing.

The results of the Settle Hills Race 2014 are now available at http://fellrunner.org.uk/results.php?id=2427

They'll be up on the Settle Harriers web site too as soon as we've fixed it :-(
