    National Parks extensions

I didn't know they were planning to extend the Dales and the Lakes, at one point they'll only be separated by the width of the M6.

    Map

Notable additions to the Dales will be: The rest of the Howgills, Barbondale and the upper Eden Valley. I hope this doesn't alter permissions for the KWL, as both Barbondale and Fell End Clouds will now be inside the extended YDNP once approval is granted to Natural England.

I'm not sure it's a case of "planning to" so much as somebody "would like to."
    Wot's KWL?

Kendal Winter League- great series of fell races every weekend for about 12 races starting in Jan. We did quite a few when the boys were younger

I'm not entirely sure whats in some of the areas thats worth extending for. The only bit I can see is the Howgills into YDNP.

May also provide an obstacle to developers who want to cover the upper Lune valley with wind turbines?

Probably the best explanation, and I'm all in favour of that . Bloody useless triffids, they have already spoiled parts of Denbighshire and the North Wales coast .

The upper Eden Valley is home to Red Squirrels. I saw one once when i was fishing up there, only time i've ever seen one wild.

At the consultation/public meetings, the only downside was that famous railway village of Tebay is not included in either extension.
