    Re: Jubilee Street Party

My bossy neighbour (the one that weedkillered my herbs) has put her Union Jack bunting out:w00t: As a self-employed person, the double bank holiday is pretty meaningless to me but I am ambivalent about the celebrations. If a large percentage of the populace enjoy themselves and enter into the community spirit with street parties etc that's seems ok to me. I think for most people it has nothing to do with politics or monarchy and more to do with having time off and a party. I'm not sure which day is officially jubilee day but I'll be on a course on Saturday, camping on Sunday and Monday and working on Tuesday. My participation in Jubileeness will be partaking of Montezuma's limited edition British puddings chocolate bars...yum yum.

A couple of days off work and driving up to the Lakes after work... I'm happy whether it's the Queen's Jubilee or the anniversary of Mussolini getting his first tailored suit!

I'm away on special anniversary weekend and Mrs Bother has just text me saying she booked an extra night away as we off on Monday. (sorry,,,,Tuesday, yippee)

    I'm happy.

These things make no difference to me, I work regardless of what day of the week it is, bankholiday or not...

I am also totally indifferent to royalty, yours or ours... Bah Humbug!

But, as I happen to have a consecutive day and a half off work, by sheer crafty division of workload with the colleague, I shall make my way into the Black Mountains first thing Sunday morning, not to be seen again till the afternoon on Monday

    Re: Jubilee Street Party

We had a street party for her 50th in 2002, but 10 years on and virtually every house in the cul-de-sac has changed hands and there doesn't seem to be the same atmosphere as there was then. I doubt I'd recognise most of my near neighbours if I walked past them in the street. Annoyingly, I'm on call tomorrow, so I can't even make use of the 4 days off properly either.

I'm working Sunday AM (as per usual) and can only hope the parties keep the great unwashed hoards away from my out of hours clinic, knowing my luck I'll get a run on food poisoning, overeating and/or drunkeness, at least I've got MartynP's BGR support to look forward to next Friday.

Drove through Blackley earlier, saw a house with a "stuff the jubilee" bedsheet.
