    Parking at Honister

Can anyone tell me if there is a charge for car parking at Honister, and if so how much for 24 hours.
    Thanks in advance,
    Graham

Is that right? Thought you might get clamped in this day and age.
I've always parked on the flat bit 1/4 mile down the borrowdale side.

doesn't say you can't park there and I've done so, although I've also parked at the national trust car park as I'm a member.

If in doubt, park at the mine and go in and ask - that'll remove all the doubt!

It's also a good idea to let them know that the car will be there for that long, just incase someone starts to worry that a day walker has become benighted or something.

I think the protocol is to buy a very nice slate coaster as a gesture for using their car park. Would be a good idea not to annoy the slate quarry as it's a great car park for BG support.

The guy that owns the quarry is very friendly. He let my kids sit in his helicopter and play with the controls when they were waiting for me to arrive on a BG support. They had been playing in his yard and were worried that they were about to be told off!

Nice helicopter too - burgundy jet ranger type thing. He did a fly past as he left.

    Top bloke.
