    Default 4x4 Ilkley moor

Anyone else spotted the abandoned Discovery on the top of Ilkley moor near whetstone gate? I had to smile as I ran past this morning to see it buried in 3ft of bog. That's not going anywhere anytime soon. What a fool

Any idea how long it's been there? I don't run that way often.

The various Broken bits of driveshaft surrounding it suggest that keys aren't the main issue. It going to need a powerful tow vehicle and some digging I expect. Loads of fun. Especially as you're not supposed to drive up there anyway so they'll have to be sneaky.

I wonder exactly where they thought they were going? The ground in that direction is treacherous for quite some distance

The broken-surfaced road over the Moor (Keighley Gate, I believe it's called) is a vehicular right of way, & I have driven over it many times in the past, & walked Dogs at the top/picniced with family up there.
However, if someone goes off the 'ROW' without just cause, I have zero sympathy for any action taken against them

(just wish there'd be a crackdown on numpties riding bikes without lights, or on pavements, & that's from a cyclist of more years standing than I care to think about)

Deserves whatever happens to them, confiscation/crushing)

There is the possibility, of course, that it was 'TWOCd' & driven up there?

Riding in my local woods the other day it appears the pikeys have discovered it...Turned a corner to find a 4x4 coming straight at me...No attempt to brake or swerve...Only option I had was to dismount and jump into the undergrowth with bike in hand.....How the heck they got in the woods and up to the top part where I was is beyond me...Gits

One of my collegues is a Countryside Warden for Ilkely Moor - he reports the vehicle has gone now. However if anyone has any details about the vehicle (reg number, photos etc.) please pass them to me.

    Cheers, Tim Brooks

Sorry Tim, couldn't get a reg as it was submerged. Didn't have a camera or anything to write it on either. It was a white discovery with blacked out windows and it was off road kitted

An illegally off-roading white Discovery has been sized by the police from Ilkley Moor and the owners won't be getting it back! I suspect it's the same vehicle
