    Default Path Closure

Not sure if this has been covered elsewhere but if you are aiming for a BG in 23.59 you should be aware that the path from Portinscale across to Keswick is closed. You have to stay on the path up to the main road and come in to Keswick along the B5289. Only adds a minute or so (depending on pace) but if its nip and tuck at the end, worth remembering.

Having said that, if someone finished in 24.01 due to the extra distance is some 'considerate' time keeping at the end acceptable?

No. There was no allowance when the footbridge was out after the floods. You have 24 hours.

The coach turns back in to a pumpkin and the horses to mice

As for reopening: it might be this - http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk...ds/131157.aspx which gives end of July as the planned completion date.

A 24:01 finish is surely a badge of honour, of honesty, integrity, gutsy never say die-ty, of being above self imposed rules and silly time limits. And of course of er.... ultimate abject pitiful failure . I was up on Fairfield on Saturday and Mark who I was running with was apparently speaking to a guy who finished in 24:02 so it does happen.

Ouch! That's a hell of a long time and a lot of hard training to fail by 2 mins. Hope he gives it another go.

I hope so too. I can only imagine how hard he must have pushed himself on those last few miles to Keswick ....... doesn't bear thinking about!
