    Lantern Pike/Mellor Moor event

    Lantern Pike and Mellor Moor Footpath Challenge

    Monday August 27th, 2012
    In Support of Help for Heroes
    A self-paced tour of the Lantern Pike and Mellor Moor for walkers, runners, individuals and families.
    Navigate from the Lantern Pike Inn, Little Hayfield, SK22 2NG (http://www.lanternpikeinn.co.uk/) using a Grid Reference and a clue to find the first checkpoint. At the first checkpoint, find the next Grid Reference and clue and follow the Magical Mystery Tour around the nooks, crannies and secret highlights of Mellor Moor until deposited back at the Lantern Pike for refreshments.

    5 mile or 10 mile route choice options

    5 mile route also available as a standard map for the less adventurous

    Start at your leisure between 10am and 12pmPrice: £6 per adult; £3 per junior. Prize giving for the competitive at 2pm!
    Price includes entry to the Lantern Pike Inn Bank Holiday Fund Raising Event in support of Help for Heroes. Music, entertainment and much merriment: 12pm- 8pm Monday 27th, 2012.

    BC, good shout, am definitely interested if I can cajole the family, and if I can talk nicely to the rain gods over the next 2 days about a better target in another valley. OB1

    Just looked at Monday's weather. Rain God's are set to piss all over t'Pennines (and probably a fair chunk of t'Pennine too) all day long.
    It's getting difficult to talk the family into this one and still stay in their good books.

    Walked the short route with my girlfriend.
    It was really nice to have a sniff around an area we'd not been before.
    The weather was rubbish for about an hour but we had full waterproofs and chocolate so was all OK.
    Thanks to Jim and others for organising a nice afternoon out in the hills.
