How's the toilet problem coming along?
All resolved. Not one accident since the treat programme you pm'd to me. Only issue now is nipping other dogs on the bum!! She hasn't yet took fur but when she did it to our lab tonight!! Poor Tia didn't know what was going on. We are going to send her out of the room for a few mins if she does it again. We won't shout at her and certainly wouldnt lift our hands at her but she needs to know it's not on. How we get around the issue when we our outside will be a learning curve. Problem is there is no pattern to it. Some dogs she will, some she won't. Little Madame!!!
Not touching cloth territory, but close enough

Just caught up with the thread after 2 weeks away and I love the photos.
A fine looking dog and I am glad that all the training is coming along.

... continuous effort - not strength or intelligence - is the key to unlocking our potential.
Its great she's doing so well.. with the nipping thing, there are 2 strands to curing it.. one is to teach a substitute behaviour incompatible with the nipping, could just be to sit, or something more complicated to amuse a collie.. And also to make sure the herding instinct is satisfied elsewhere- is she interested in toys/football fetching or chasing? Using both means the desire to do it inappropriately is reduced, and the unwanted behaviour is shaped into something else with positive reinforcement. This is assuming it is mostly a herding nip.. there's always a large element of anxiety when most dogs 'bite'.. if this is the case for Winnie, the substitute behaviour associated with relaxing/treats is really effective. Being more settled in general can improve things, but with her history more likely to be exacerbated a bit by bonding with her new people..
Hope i am making sense.. v tired!
