    Rubber studded football boots

In Decathlon at the weekend i spotted some football boots which have lots of shallow rubber studs rather that the usual sort (I think they're for synthetic grass or something). anyone ever tried these sort of boots out for grassier fell runs? for £10 a pair they loked pretty useful?

I think some of our juniors (7 or 8 year olds probably) have given these a try & found them ok. Don't know of any old folks using them, though.

Years ago Asics made some with leather upper around the toe but the rear upper was of canvas - Great grip but the uppers didn't last long!

All the local runners at the Kinabalu race in Borneo wore what looked like one piece rubber studded shoes and seemed to run well in them, despite it being very hard and rocky underfoot. Who knows how much quicker they might have been in other footwear.

Still £10 sounds like a bargain- guess they'd be good for a muddy x-country in winter.
