All the best in the race.

Just make sure, (for safety) you carry some additional warm gear and extra food.

    Enjoy
Cheers. I should cope now, or at least I stand a chance. Personally, it's nice that I'm training properly in winter for once. I've been running for less than four years. The first winter I had plantar fasciitis, second winter knee trouble, third was a combination of niggles and boredom from forcing myself to run the pavements of Leeds, but I'm happy as clam to have summat to aim for in the freezing weather at long last.

    Hi all,

I was planning to do a recce of this on Sunday next, due to the snowfall I'm having second thoughts...navigating a route I've never done before solo in the snow doesn't sound that appealing...

Quick question, has the snow been heavy on the race route over the past few days? And is anyone else keen for a recce (if you already know the route then that is a huge bonus...)?

No time to recce now (just seen your post) but to answer your question there is some snow on the route but no fresh snow for about a week. Conditions likely to be crispy/icy so no deep snow.
Forecast for tomorrow looks like dry and cold.

Following a 230 mile drive down from Edinburgh for my annual (8th in a row) contribution to the brewing industry of Hebden Bridge I can report a fair bit of ice in the south part of the course but not on the scale of 2012. With the quality of the ale in The Fox and Goose just making it to the start line might not be a bad achievement.

sounds good to me, I've had a few too many deep snow runs recently.

Good luck everyone, I've been looking forward to tomorrow for ages!

Great race today, really enjoyed it. Good conditions for running despite being very icy underfoot in places. Had a couple of tumbles but no serious damage done.

Thanks to Calder Valley Fell Runners for a great race.
