Thread: Vegan Welsh 3000s

    Re: Vegan Welsh 3000s

Just noticed this event on the forum.
Looks like my sort of thing.
I have done the 3000's 3 times in the past (Good few yrs back) First time gave up at Ogwen Valley, Exhausted.
Last time did the route in around 14 hrs. Walking mainly.
Looks like a reasonable cost of £20. A lot cheaper than some of the other events out there.

    Twice (Never noticed that bit)

Swift reply from the organiser... it's to Foel Fras and back. That's some pretty big, rough climbs!

Between the Fellsman and L100 that's going to be a bit much for me. Definitely up for the 3000s race though.

I am interested in peoples food plans for the race
Yeah, I'm veggie, so I thought it's not a big step to be Vegan for one day, but in reality I need to do my longer training runs while eating the food that I'll use on race day, so I guess I need to learn some about Vegan endurenace food...

    Any tips from anyone ?

Same here. Although I think it's only chocolate I eat that I'd have to ditch for the race. Flapjack, dried fruit, nuts and gels for me.

I'm veggie, not vegan, but since all I eat & drink on runs is Kendal Mint Cake & water, I suppose I'm a vegan runner in one sense. It's not very difficult & it got me round the BG last year.

I like Medjool dates, Clif bars, flapjack if it isn't too crumbly, gels. It's pretty simple.

Not that I ever feel like eating/not eating has ever made any difference to how I feel when running. That's a whole different issue though.

Recce question for those with knowledge of the area:

What's the quickest way to get from Crib Goch summit to Nant Peris? Looking at a map I'm guessing CG's north ridge is probably not an option, but what about dropping down in to Llyn Glas and following the streams to the bridge and on to the road about 3k south of NP? Is there any kind of path parallel to the road? Or a better option that stays high and doesn't drop down until nearer NP (looks sketchy on the map)? Cheers.

yep off at Bwlch Goch and follow the path that runs parallel to the stream and road into nant peris, north ridge is lovely and I think its the route for any record attempts but a bit exposed
