Am I reading the map right when I say that you have managed to get rid of the bulk of the Tarmac between Slieu Whallian and South Barrule?

If so, that's a great improvement....all that Tarmac at a point where you're beginning to feel knackered with what feel like a long way to go can be pretty soul (sole!) destroying!

Yes, from the Garey Gate runners will now drop down through Arrasey plantation to then climb back up to the Round Table via "The Pipeline" track, then crossover the road at the Round Table Crossroads to ascend South Barrule. This adds some distance and climbing but does away with the road section.
    Good going down !!

I have had an attempt to redraw this bit of the route, red=2011 blue=my best guess. Are these the changes Murph ?

I did this as the MMM in 2006 and 2007 and really enjoyed it. Conditions couldn't have been better both times - dry ground and sun tans all around. I've wanted to return again ever since. This year might be difficult with other races, but next year? (especially if it returns to the Runfurther series again; now wouldn't that be good).

Hi Alf. yes thats a pretty good representation of the changes in that area, hopefully by the end of the week the full OS mapping should be online which will mak ethings clearer for all.
BritNick, It would be good to see another runner returning, we cant promise anything on the RunFurther front, especially not for 2013 but we have been in talks with Mark and fingers crossed their maybe some developments in the future for 2014.
    Good going down !!

I have to confess to being something of an island hopping enthusiast and I always prefer to go by boat in order to get that "real island experience". Flying, particularly if it is a cloudy day, does not give you that crossing the sea experience; you could just as well be taking off from Blackpool and landing at Leeds-Bradford.
I was a bit of an oddball until I was abducted by aliens; but I'm perfectly OK now!
