The whole route does not have to be the same. I could run a different route at a different time on a different day from you, but for one section of our runs we may take the same line up a hill. This will appear in the league table.

I will be able to see the rest of your run & see if you did a short run to deliberately make an attempt to climb up the table.

If you are using Strava, particularly forthe cycle option, it is worth noting that you can use a privacy setting that doesn't show where you start/finished your ride. You don't want someone coming around to your garage & nicking your bike, do you?
I've just decided I don't trust you anymore.

I accidentally put one of my runs down as a cycle and on a 1Km hill climb segment I was placed 9th out of 80. Just goes to show that a MTB is more of a hindrance than advantage when going uphill

    Done, and called "FRA forum".

http://app.strava.com/clubs/22459 should take you straight there.... please join me, as I look awfully lonely in a one-man club!

It was hypothetical, replace me for a mate of yours who runs in your hills.

Haha. I've registered on the forum one anyway. I don't think there are many forumites that run much near me (wharfee and ze monsta and thats it) so I suspect the friend comparison thingy will be a red herring.

Last stupid questions: When I get round to uploading a run (in a week or so as my laptops in for repair) it won't stop me using garmin connect via ant+ as well will it? It won't delete anything on the watch either? And finally how do you actually upload - press the button in strava when you've done something else in the garmin watch menu?

It is not just people in the club you will see it is everybody that make their run public. There are a lot of trail/fell runners that would not come on here.

But you will find that other non Forum types are running those hills. The only trouble is that there is always someone coming along and nicking your KOM!

For the 3 peaks (PyG, Whernside and Ingleborough) yep absolutely, but other than that I barely ever, ever bump into any other runners. There again it'll be interesting to see if there are any
