    Myrtle Meander (Sat 24th Feb

This is a LDWA event starting from Bingley (nr Bradford/Keighley) over to Haworth and back 24miles cross country on Sat 24 Feb.

Has anyone done it before and is anyone interested for this year - in 2 weeks time?

As everyone knows who's done LDWA events, fed and watered at each check point, recorded time and a great way of training for marathon length runs.... and, a meal at the end - surpose this one will be no different, as i have not done it before

Chris - I'm doing it - it will be the fourth time I've done it. It's great. The route is good and fairly easy to follow, but the cakes are THE best. Last time I did it, it was nearly cancelled cos of the snow. There was a lot on the top, going over to Ogden. You really had to follow someone else's footsteps to avoid going down 6 inches or so every step.

Had a look at this, but found the checkpoint conditions as below, not really runner friendly.

'Cps will open on 5mph & close on 2.5mph schedule'.

Yes, I was worried about that first time I entered (I was fitter then) but I didn't arrive too early. Nowadays, it's not a problem at all - one of the joys of being towards the back of the field. And I think it will be OK for most people.
They are very friendly towards runners.

I've done this event several times before -it's not called a Meander for nothing ,the route finding is quite "interesting" in places. It's also not a race so if you get to a checkpoint early then you just have to wait while all the mouthwatering goodies are unpacked!
Runners welcome -just dont rush -enjoy

When i first posted i didnt know about the 5mph check point problem. I'm not fast but i would hope to finish in less that 5hrs (4 and a half) but this does mean getting cold waiting for check points. I sorry but for me thsi is not encourageing runners (and i'm a member of LDWA!!!!). Come on LDWA show a bit of flexiblity!
