Just received an e-mail from the RO, Andy Farmer:-

Hi All
For those of you offering help or even running Fiendsdale tomorrow.

Leigh Warburton and I have been on the course today and the conditions are extreme. We have therefore decided to shorten the race to reduce the time the runners and marshals are out. The route will be the same as Paddy's Pole.

For those of you marshalling, I will definitely need you as we will need to put marshals at strategic points to make sure that the runners are aware of the changed course. There is also the distinct possibility that the MRT may not get there if they get a shout.

Please make sure you are well equipped. it's freezing up there.

Gutted.. mind you I would not want to marshall in those conditions. Gusting 65mph on top tonight. Extreme conditions.

This was 1707 this afternoon... http://youtu.be/42MKnyp35Yg. RO made a very sensible call cancelling, the roads to fell foot were only just passable at 2pm, the car parking places were snowed over and the marshals would have perished. Getting to 1707 took perseverance, several layers of windproofing and ski goggles.

Unfortunately we are unable to re-run the Fiendsdale race as i had hoped. Some of the cheques were banked last week the remainder are still in my possession. I will destroy those that have not been banked and send refund to those who's cheques have already been processed. Some entrants have already asked us to donate the entry fee to the mountain rescue team, who we normally give any proceeds to when the race is held. If anyone would like me to donate their entry fee to the mountain rescue please can send me an e_mail to the address below before Monday 8th April. I will publicise the amount raised on the Bowland Fell Runners website and post it on the forum.
