    Three Shires

I'm planning to recce for this race soon (must be 16-17 years since I've done it ).

I recall that during the run up to last year's race there was a good thread on here with loads of route info. I've tried searching but can't find it. Will it be too old now or am I doing something wrong??

I'd offer help but living 10 minutes jog from the start I know the route like the back of my hand.....

Got 7 club mates lost coming off Swirl How last night. Or was it 6?

Headcounting for safety seems so passe....

    Re: Three Shires

I take responsibility as I led off very confidently from Swirl Howe.

At the col from Swirl Howe you skirt down and off to the left slightly to meet the path that skirts around Gt Carrs where upon you cross a mini peat bog and onto the east side of the ridge. You HAVE to be confident in dropping down to this path - I wasn't, given the cloud, and I think we ended up between Gt & Little Carrs and then dropped down and started up towards Grey Friar. It's OK, you can laugh... I did, although I think a couple of others were highly unamused....

So does anybody have a list of the checkpoints for this race?
I don't seem to be able to find any info anywhere.

I think off the top of my head, it's Wetherlam, Three Shires, Pike o' Blisco, Lingmell. Starts at three shires inn.

You had better add Swirl Howe to that list. There may or may not be a check point at the bridge over the beck at the southern side of Blea Tarn too, but I don't ever recall it being manned.
