''I have a sandcastle building competition coming up and I need TOOLs''
Sandcastle competitions.... oh the memories of childhood and bustling summers gone by in Morecambe.
The organ still plays but no one visits there any more. This summer looks to be the quietest yet, a few hardy pensioners still turn out but they are all dying off. The desperate, hopeless inhabitants roam the streets, their faces pounded by the harsh sea wind. It's falling apart is Morecambe. But the organ still plays, the wurlitzer still echoes through the air, its all beautifully sad.
PS ....I haven't got a bloody clue where you'll get a bucket and spade from
To the Regiment - I Wish I Was There
Did a sandcastle building competition ay Harlech last summer, turned up with appropriate bucket and spade to make wonderous castle but low and behold, the competitors nearly all turned up industrial sized spades / shovels etc. Our 'tools' felt quite inadequate for the job but we had a great day. Didn't see many sandcastles as almost everyone created sand sculptures, some being absolutely amazing. I suppose the saying 'thinking out of the box' applies here, unfortunately I am unable to this and I made a sandcastle!
Morecambe, immortalised by Colin Crompton:
"Morecambe.......it's like Stockport on sea, a cemetry with lights ............. when they die in Morecambe they don't bury them ............they prop 'em up in a bus shelter......with a bingo ticket in their hand!"
"Tuesday's the big day. They all turn out to watch the traffic lights change! .......
........11 o'clock it is if you don't want to miss it."
"Then they all go round to the butcher's to watch the bacon slicer ........ lovely girl!"
etc etc
The BBC have some hints on sandcastle building
Here's one I found on the web:

especially if i can't find a bucket and spade i will try the toy shop dom - i am sure they will have something as long as i don't get distracted by the big water pistols which are much more fun
take me to skegness on saturday and you can get one there
that is where i will be building sandcastles - but not til a week on sunday sara blazzard reckons it will rain that day
