Joss Leg 5 - reccie route

I am planning a leg 5 reccie - possibly leg 4/5 - and probably tomorrow since the weather is now looking rough this w/e

The question I have - does anyone know - what is the ground like coming off middlefell generally north in order to get back towards wasdale head, to do all the tops but then save a long trudge back from the end of wastwater? Is there a path that goes that way? I cannot see much on google earth.

Mike, get down to the road and hitch a lift, there is usually plenty of traffic going to Wasdale Head.

Mike, back in my Wainwright bagging days, myself and a walking buddy, on a short winter's day, set off from Nether Wasdale to bag Buckbarrow, Seatallan, Middlefell then round the top of Waster to bag Illgill Head and Whin Rigg on the way back. We descended ESE off Middlefell, aiming for the whitewashed house at Bowderdale; then taking the old pony track down the W bank of Nether Beck, to hit the road at Nether Bridge (only leaving a mile or so to walk on the road). That descent into Nether Beck was very rough and boulder - ideal if you want to add a cropped ankle to the list. For your project, I'd be with Yiannis; the challenge route to Greendale then hitch.

Bother- Thurs I have an Options eve to attend. Oh well.
Is the route obvious if you have run on that area before?
