I heard it was cheaper to buy a ticket for the whole of Glastonbury to see The Rolling Stones than to buy a ticket in the front rows of the O2 Arena last year when they performed there. Probably more cheaper as you can take your own food and drink into Glastonbury. I was listening to Radio 4 on the way home from the lakes on Sunday and John Humphrys of all people was giving a review of their performance.

The Stones always remind me now of the story 'the Emperors new clothes'. Who will be the first to admit it though......

Glasto is now a fascinating collision of bleeding edge and musical museum. Impossible to be objective about the Stones. Its like saying a Spitfire is a past it as an aeroplane. Sure it is but all ages love it. For me I was kinda impressed that they did not play it safe but performed some less obvious stuff. PiL was really funny. JL hefting a bloated carcass around in the bright sunshine growling and gurning like a comedy monster.

Seeing Mumford and Son bring the curtain down was kinda depressing. How safe and harmless can one possibly get, without resorting to Keane? I mean, the hook is they use a banjo when churning out their safe harmless music. That's it.

I agree. Bland at best. Maybe they are a "marmite" group you either love them or don't?
