Well if you're gonna be like that, then the only plus-point I can think of is the bonus FF points.. don't let me down

Like the way you've made absolutely sure everyone knows about it.. one mega-40th-bash coming up?? And just think how many people know you and care about you, whether you win the races or not. More than ever in your life probably? Legendary descender, among other things. I'd say we're all lucky, and lucky to be in fell-running, can't think of a better bunch of people anywhere.

Thanks for replies.. just for the record, it was meant to be tongue-in-cheek.. i'm not really depressed. I concur with the posts about it being the best time of your life. Being serious for a second, i've never been happier, healthier and fitter.. i am really looking forward to my 40s. There is so much i want to do and can do. It's true that youth is wasted on the young though, i wish i knew what i know now when i was 20 . The best thing about being 40 is that it has focused my mind on what i want to do with my life and not trying to live it to please other people.. as has been said by Hes/RTS et al, more confident, don't care what people think, about appearance etc. Mind you i was never much into appearance.. i just finished a tube of make up which i started in 6th form!

Can't agree with cheaper car insurance though.. mine has doubled in the last 5 years!

Apart from a new vet category and not being dead, is there any good news?
Becoming 40 you are closer to death than when you were 30. You won't have to put up with all this misery for quite so long now. Great feeling
Don't roll with a pig in poo. You get covered in poo and the pig likes it.

I had assumed you’d been making highly calculated fashion statement!

It's not too bad being over 40 in the UK. If you lived in Zambia, Angola or Swaziland, you'd probably be dead already. Scary eh.

I'm told life begins at 40, but then I'm told that 50 is the new 40 and 60 is the new 50. It's like Catch 22. "Life" only "begins" for me when I get my pension. Which will be when I'm about 75. I'm looking forward to seeing what it's like.

If all of the above doesn't make you feel better, you could start counting backwards?
