    Walshes Factory Sale

Walsh's are having a factory shop sale - offering an extra 20% discount to members of fell running clubs - they sent out some invites to all fell running clubs.
Paid a visit tonight with Mapper and I bought two pairs of Walsh's - a pair of PB racers and a pair of trainers (in a natty all black). At £40 a pair I think it was worth the trip (only about 8 miles for me) and I'm sorted for the forseeable future with my favourite shoes.

I got several more invites whilst there so if anyone wants one PM me

There address is ETA Sports, Park Hill Street, Bolton BL1 4AR

It's near where Chorley New and Chorley Old Rd meet.
Landmark house is on the corner, there's a side street at the side of it from chorley new rd and Walsh are up the little back street.

I went over last week and came back with a pair of PB Ultra Extreme.

I have run in them twice and I like them for comfort and grip. I usually race in Inov8 330 mudcllaws so now I can compare the two.

Which will grip for the longest and who has the superior build quality?

PS I have had 3 pairs of Inov 270 mudclaws and none lased 60 mile with out splitting.

Can someone enlighten me with a bit of history here. My first fell shoes were ETA's back when the choice was Blue Walshes or Green ETA's. Now it seems that ETA sell Walshes (own Walshes?) and arn't the new Gladiators related somehow to the old ETA's (sure I saw that somewhere) or are they just a reworked felldancer?

ETA's was a new company set up in the early 90's - I'm sure the former Fell Running Champion Keith Anderson was involved as the A in the 3 partner business. I'm not sure that the ETA is the same one.
Norman Walsh sold out the business a few years ago when he retired - the new owners kept the name and developed the business - they sell fashion shoes in Europe. The guy in the shop told us that they still manufacture the sports shoes in Bolton, but the fashion stuff is manufactured in Italy (presumably under some sort of licence)

Dont know if that helps but its all I know!

Cheers for the address Hopey, ill pop over next week sometime.

Stagger i was thinking of trying the inov8 330s as they are getting good reviews, but when i tried a pair on they seemed abit cumbersome and heavy? Ill await your report and stick with the walshes for now.....

The A in ETA was indeed Keith Anderson. The business appears to have been supplanted by his various other coaching and tour oganising companies.

Seems like a good excuse to keep the local economy going, plus can never have too many shoes and my RX's are getting a little tired now (3 years old)

Anyone know what time they close?

    Re: Walshes Factory Sale

Open Monday to Friday 9 am - 4 pm.

I've got a winner's voucher that I need to spend there. My Galdiators are starting to fall apart now so fancy a pair of PB racers.

N.B. I didn't win the voucher, my wife did but she doesn't get on with Walshes (fortunately for me).
