How can I put this, I need a restraining bolt fitting when there is booze in the house. All that would happen is I'd start the Whisky on my birthday, and then consume it all far too quickly and not enjoy the lovely delights as they deserve.

I'm not to be trusted with such things.
Ah! I know what you mean. Fortunately I have a wife who assists with this problem. I hardly get a look in!!...and I suppose building a 29er full-susser over a few birthdays/christmas' is a non-starter!!

I requested a really good/expensive bottle of olive oil, as I was curious about the taste etc, for several birthdays. It took about 5 years to get one as everybody thought I was extracting the pee and/or it was a naff pressie!!

I'd never have the patience to build a bike over that time frame, I'd go insane.

I think the food thing might be a winner, it can be either material or experience based (kinda both really)

How about a one day cookery 'masterclass'; there are plenty to choose from and topics range widely depending on your taste.

What you need is a nice bit of art....

So far I have suggested socks and a badass coffee machine. Maybe a Drill Press.

What else is there that I don't know I need? Suggestions please.

Some already vetoed suggestions are VW Transporter, Sports Car, Puppy. Apparently I'm not worth £15k

Or should I scrap all this nonsense and just restock on socks and accept the interminable ageing process.
how about an anti midge machine, got to be worth £15K even if it doesn't cost that much. failing that a laminator for all those race maps you print or a case of energy bars/gel/musili bars etc(whatever is your fancy)

How about an all expenses trip out to the bothy of your choice?

I have always quite fancied one of the Predator machines http://www.midgesnomore.com/no-more-...ator/index.htm

Not sure about your last suggestion Ian

Art, sadly that would be lost on me.

I think this is the winner for me. Hints have been dropped. With all the subtlety of a breeze block dropped in a toe.

Well, things turning out slightly differently so far.

1 titanium spork and (bless the heavens) an Irwin Record No52.

Although there is apparently more on the way. The GFs folks failed to insert any money into the card they sent. So I reckon I'll draw a picture of a Fifty pound note on the inside of the card with a big question mark. Then send the card back to them. Seems reasonable to me.

Everyone needs a titanium spork. I bought one for Mr OneHill and had to go back and get one for myself :closed:
