I wore my new HRM whilst hill running for the first time on Saturday. I've previously worn it for steady flat runs, circuit training and cycling(mtb singlespeed and road), but the heart rates during hill running surprised me.
During 2 hours running around the Clwydians I hit a max of 193bpm and was above 180 for much of the climbing. I assume my threshold is higher than I'd previously thought.
I guess there's not much point trying to keep the heart-rate down on terrain like that and just treat it as hard intervals.
