    Hoppits Hill Race

Spotted this 'gentle' little race, the David Bell Memorial Hoppits Hill Race, to give it it's full title, in the calendar update in the recent fellrunner magazine so think I'll give it a go on Sunday given its less than 20 miles from home - www.hoppits.co.uk Anyone else planning on running what looks like a tour of Nicky Spinks' back garden?

It is...first run at Nickys Wedding 3 years ago. Nice little race. Sorry I won't be there but family duties call.

Was a nice little race indeed, won outright by the awesome Annabel Mason, with her dad in 2nd place - that's despite them both overshooting a stile early on before being shouted back! Only about 25 or so runners in it and, judging from the prizegiving, no seniors (18-40 age group) as there were prizes for first 5 M40 & M50 - despite this I still went away empty-handed - not that I was pot-hunting of course!

Planning on doing the Spring version of this on Sunday (30 March) as my first FRA race of the year. Not traditional fell race country, being the hills across the Calder from Dewsbury/Mirfield but a couple of tough little climbs thrown in.

    Anyone else up for it?

yes Martin a couple of car loads of dark peakers will be rushing to the start after running the Lads leap race earlier that morning, a double header if ever there was one.

Hope the traffic back across Holme Moss & through Holmfirth etc isn't too bad for you-assuming that's the planned route back across.

Good little race today in perfect running conditions, numbers well up from the 26 in August to 60+ including IDP* and clubmates who did make it in time after having done Lads Leap earlier. Thanks to Nicky and all her helpers including those manning the food/cake stall in the cricket club afterwards.

*Good to finally meet you Ian.
