can anyone else remember silver jubilee year
did you have a street party ?????????
was talkin to the old boy down the road other day and he said it would never happen nowadays and i think hes rite, ie a street party

i can vaguely remember it and the thing i remember most was how tacky everyones table and chairs looked lined up in the middle of the street

lots on here will no doubt remember the day well

why have i posted this , well apart from just bumpin into the old boy again whilst puttin out the rubbish, i said to him i would try and get a reaction from people on why we dont do things as neighbours anymore.

Well we did it here in Calver (Peak District) for the Golden Jubilee (or maybe it was the millenium) closed the road through the village, barbecue, bar, childrens games and everything. Yes and the bunting, miles of the stuff.

I remember the street parties of '78. It was certainly a big occasion. Even the royal wedding ('81? '82'?) was a pretty big thing as i recall with all the family gathered round the TV.

i ain't even 32.. i don't remember the street partys of 78. i remember the street party of 81/82.. the beer flowed well ..

anyway i lived on a main road.

we once had a party outside the co-op just down the road though when i was about 14, cuz i fancied one of the boys who worked in there.
