    Ironman Wales

Anyone do it this year or doing it next year ?

Went to watch a mate do it this year and felt totally out of place spectating so a few days later I entered the 2014 race.

Can't swim more than 2 lengths front crawl at the moment and not ridden a bike properly since my racing ( not very well ) days in the mid 90s.

Looks like the BG will have to wait another year.

    Yup, entered.

12mths will be plenty of time to sort yourself out. Learn to swim a bit over the winter - find a club or masters session - & pick up your cycling & running as the year goes by. It may be an idea to do a triathlon along the way, perhaps Bala Middle.

You done an Ironman before ?

Yeah 12 months should be fine. I'm having a few 1 to 1 swim lessons at the moment so that should bring me on pretty quick. Cycling I know I can do and running fitness I can keep ticking over on a couple of runs a week.

I'll probably do a warm up tri sometime next year. Like the look of the Lakes one in June

Of course not, I shall keep my fell fitness at a half decent level.

Just remember to take it easy on me, no sprinting off with the leaders this time

I think you have me confused with someone else!

I did France in 2010 & Celtman in 2012. After a bit of a gap year this year I needed to get my teeth into something next year. I've got at least one clubmate doing Wales so that should provide me with some inspiration.

It was a good race, I enjoyed most of it.

I'm no expert/coach & realise that you have a mate who did it this year, but if I can help in any way just holler.
