"...as dry as the Atacama desert".
Seems a fair outcome

Looks like they'll be missing the AL at Pendle after all
Read through all of this yeaterday and the 2007 posts about the route make great reading. Really whets the appetite.
Shame there's not a solo category for the fell-running loners amongst us!

I've been wanting to do this the last 2 years but it's not transpired
determined to ink this in as a definite for 2012
I'm "scrape the cut-offs slow" though, so on the look out for similarly abled/willing partner...
Scramble the rock face through the glare of morning sun — to run
I ran it last year as a training run on my own and it was a great day out... starting and finishing in Elterwater, doing the Old Man, Scafell Pike then Helvellyn, down to Grasmere and over Red Bank back to the start. I'm guessing that's not quite the exact race route, but it was still good fun. Though when I say fun, that probably doesn't cover the climb up Helvellyn from Thirlmere, which definitely falls in to the "bastard" category.
Had a look at this on maps last night, using the grid references from earlier in the thread (although left out the World of Beatrix Potter checkpoint!).
First thoughts: Blimey.
I couldn't see hardly any obvious ways to get from checkpoint to checkpoint! Will look through the thread again for guidance. I'm sure (sort of) that it'd make more sense when on the ground.
