Many Thanks to Chris and all the similarly cheery marshals for such a superb event - this is what fell racing is all about as far as I'm concerned.
glorious weather enhanced the beauty of the route and the Lakes in general - enjoyment guaranteed!
Thanks & Congratulations to Manhar - a model partner - good company, cheerful & positive throughout
finally my anal-retentive attention to a detailed schedule paid dividends (I knew it would one day ) as our catch-phrase as we passed through each CP at/near the back was "We're pacing ourselves!" - this paid off in spades when we beat the cut-off at Cockley Beck by the handsome margin of 1 minute!
being rewarded with the prospect of the climb up Grey Friar soon wiped the smiles off our faces though!
thankfully we didn't need to cut things quite as fine getting in to the finish and clocked a comfortable 11:51
I am wearing the T-shirt now
I have no plans to take it off
Scramble the rock face through the glare of morning sun — to run
Very disappointing behaviour by 4 runners caught on camera climbing a fence.
Look at the height of the fence in the first shot and then how they left it.

Note the height of the fence now

Appalling behaviour not needed in fell running.

Sounds great mate. Glad you had a good day.....I can't say I am not jealous.
Hope to get one of those shirts of my own sometime, though, as with all races, I have seen it run in HORRENDOUS weather and thought,"I may be out in this, but I don't have hours and hours of it left!"
Well done to all who started it.
It looks like they missed the small single-track path branching down and right off the main wide path, realising there mistake later (like most of us ) didn't want to back track, or maybe didn't even know where they had gone wrong. So decided to cut down and over the fence. It's unfortunate that more than one team went wrong.
I was following a team that were debating going straight on at that same point, and without intervention may have ended up in the same predicament.
There will be no time for photos next time. We will beast each other next year, now we've both been on the receiving end once. I'm willing to bet you won't repeat that decent from 3 shires next year. Hopefully we will both be too knackered. Still it was a good effort though.
Not to condone this in anyway but wouldn't it be better to identify the culprits offline and speak to their club captain?
Posting these distant images online only puts on record the actions of the minority but paints us all in a bad light.
