    I'd say that if your shoes are comfy, don't change them until you hit the road at Newlands, but change socks and apply more vaseline at each road crossing.

    I did the Paddy in the same shoes all the way round without any trouble (foot trouble that is).

    I had the same pair on the whole way round. Worked on the premiss 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'. I did have a pair of road shoes waiting for me at Newlands but I really couldn't be bothered to go through the effort of changing them by then. I did change my top at Threlkheld though - following an impromptu swim while crossing the Caldew
