    Masson Hill race

Anyone else do this cracking wee race yesterday evening? Thought it was really well organised and marshalled - big thanks to the organisers for an enjoyable evening. Hope the school managed to raise plenty of funds from the race & that we didn't tread too much mud into the building!

Just happened across a blog post from Daz H 2 years ago on the race: http://laidbackfellrunner.blogspot.c...-race.html?m=1
Never got to meet Daz but thought it would be nice to post this as testament to the man's ability. Unlike Daz, I certainly didn't manage to run all parts of the course last night

Yeah, proper steep little race. A worthy edition to the calendar. I know a number of the locals and was good to see them out running... http://massonhillrace.org.uk/

My shins are feeling particularly knackered! Enjoyed the amount of stiles & gates that had to be passed through, found it pretty taxing mind! Unfortunately, my downhill tactics of speeding up, slowing down, speeding up didn't pay off - got rightly overtaken by 4 blokes in the final 200m...

Yeah, it was great to see some younger runners taking part. I knew that top 10 had fallen beyond my reach once overtaken by a young lad in a Matlock AC vest two thirds up that first brutal climb.

I had noticed that this race wasn't on this year's FRA Calendar. I didn't do it last year, but the previous two years it was my "season opener"; one of the most accessible races for me, just 15 minutes' walk from Matlock Bath railway station.

Anyway, they have just posted a notice on the race website asking for a new organiser: http://www.massonhillrace.org.uk . No, I'm not going to volunteer, my organisational skills are at about the same level as the Government's Brexit-negotiating skills.
