I must have been working hard, I don't remember the slightest thing about the views or landscape from this one...!

Sorry for the delay in posting... Been away.
Thanks to all for supporting the race. My angst at the change of start time (for this year only and beyond my control)was unfounded. It appears that not one person came for a 2.30 start, so the word seems to have got out.
As ever, the weather was good to us and to everyone's surprise the record was beaten by a couple of minutes by Tom Adams.
One runner fell and broke his arm... But still finished in a good time and with a smile on his face . He has since made it clear, that whilst we would all help someone with an injury, when it actually happens to you, the offers of help and the concern shown by others restores your faith in humanity...among fell runners anyhow...
Thanks again folks, and see you next year.
I am thinking of doing Tegg's Nose this year. Looking at the map, I can see a few sections of road, but they look just about tolerable. But after my recent experience at the Hathersage Gala fell race, where what looked on the map like an innocent farm track turned out to be a brutal half mile of steep downhill tarmac, I'm wondering whether there are going to be any nasty surprises in this one.
Can anyone who has done this race reassure me (or otherwise)?

Its 8 years since i've done it so i don't know if it is still the same course....
But i recall a few hundred metres of tarmac at the start and/or end.... in fact i think i recall passing a pub whilst on the road, shortly before turning into finish field.
Yes, that sounds right. The bits between "start" and "C" on this map: http://www.macclesfieldsheepdogtrial..._fell_race.htm
are flat, so all the steep bits are off-road.
Enjoy. It's a good course.
Are the sheepdog trials on while the fell race is running? After I went the Bamford Sheepdog Trials fell race last year, my wife said something about wanting to watch some sheepdog trials one day (obviously she wouldn't want to watch a fell race ). Maybe I could take her along.

Dry Stone Walling is my preferred spectator sport prior to a fell race at a show.
