    Cold meals

    Hi,
I'm planning on doing some mountain-marathon type things and would prefer not to carry a stove (though I know this is required kit for official events). Any recommendations for packable cold meals?
    Cheers

You can rehydrate Expedition Food meals with cold water. I imagine it would be fairly grim. Why no stove?

Army rations if you have a contact to get them - designed so they can be eaten cold and are higher than most in calories. They are also nice cold, especially the pasta menus.

True but they are heavy, might as well take freeze dried food a small stove and have a warm meal and a hot chocolate and be less miserable

The simplest cold ready-meal I know is muesli and dried milk in a bag: add water and eat. Its a bit short on protein other than those few bits of nuts but you can always supplement with a pork pie garnish :@)

I have ordered few from Extreme Adventure Foods . They have very good selection from MREs to other freeze dried meals.
