I'll be going past the door this weekend on the way to/from the Round Rotherham, otherwise I'd join you IDP.

Thanks in advance - I am getting very close to securing that pass-out, and I learnt today that your OH had a special request that it be in our Club Champs, so that should give me extra leverage.

P.S. Now if I had a map by dawn I might recce it tomorrow - or at least some of it, accessing from Longdendale side (car park near tunnel, top of trail).

I have just read and mapped the route description (27 point list with grid refs) and the route is now clear in my head.
If I do recce tomorrow I will likely do a loop from Salters Brook Bridge, leaving out the start and finishing bridleway, so 20km-ish probably.
Most likely solo, given folk are off to the relays (my 'reserve' status not required). Anyway, need to be back by noon for work-prep for next week.
