Thread: FRA Relays 2014

There will be some flagged sections where you will be required to follow the route.

Update on the Leg 2 cut off time. We have reviewed the times and the cut off will now be 1:15pm.

I have added the final instructions for competitors to the website. A pdf file copy is also on there for you to download and print. Make sure all competitors are aware of rules and requirements. All kit will be checked.

Oh, and note that T-shirts will now be red, not orange. The order has been placed so if you haven't ordered but want one, then get in touch to reserve one of the extras which will be available on the day.

The website says there is a mass start to leg 4. Is this correct?

That will be for the teams whose leg 4 runners haven't started.

    Important announcement

The relay is currently in jeopardy

Despite a polite notice about only accessing Barbon and Middleton Fell via access points and established footpaths there have been several incidents of runners off path trespassing and with dogs not on leads. This has upset local tenant farmers and they have threatened cancelling the event.

In light of these issues we have agreed with the Roger and Pauline Bainbridge that anyone recceing the courses may park in the event parking field at grid ref 632858 and access the courses from there.

Please do not access the land from Barbon village.

Please act responsibly when visiting the area and keep dogs on leads at all times. Individuals not respecting the area will get their team disqualified or may lead to the even being cancelled. Thank you for your cooperation.

An email is being circulated to all team captains.

    Two other announcements:

The final instructions have been updated slightly. The deadline for team captains to declare their runners has been extended to 8pm on the Friday night.

We have had feedback from the Ian Hodgson Relay to say that some teams had a considerable gap between their pairs of runners. The rule stating that pairs of runners on legs 2 and 3 must stay together and be in comforable communication with each other will be strictly enforced by marshals on all manned checkpoints - both must reach controls together.

Can I just confirm that any one found where they should be will not only get themselves and their team disqualified from the fell relay championships but potentially future british championship events as well
Please pass this message on and do not tell a few idiots get the event cancelled for the rest of
    us
    Thank you

My team mate has just started at Leeds Uni and is looking for a lift to and from the relays.
He's running third leg so it doesn't matter if he isn't there first thing.

If anyone can help out or pass on this message to someone who could, we'd be very appreciative.

He'll pay his share of the fuel money!

    Thank you,
    Mike (Black Combe Runners)
