unsupported "adventure athletes" who only reccied one section, the day before, fail to complete the round shocker!
....it's all downhill from here.
What makes an "adventure athlete"? I would feel like a proper turnip if someone referred to me as an "adventure athlete"...
Indeed - there are even people who refer to themselves as 'adventure consultants' these days. What a load of bollox!
an over-inflated sense of self-importance?What makes an "adventure athlete"?
"So, to all members of the Bob Graham Round 24 Hour Club – I pay you homage. I am not yet a worthy member, but hope to be before I hang up my trainers".
....it's all downhill from here.

At what point do rocks become "hellish"?
It rankles with me as these type of adventure athletes/hipster buffoons are the sort who can easily get into difficulties with no genuine thought for either the enormity of the task nor the possible consequences. Quote from linked article of his previous 'adventure' "Why had I flippantly assumed that running 119kms on an incredibly tough mountain route would be something I could do on minimal, unfocused training?" You can provide your own answer!
