    Broad Stand - Aug 6th

I hope this will be shorter and less acrimonius than a previous thread of similar name

I'm meeting an old friend on Scafell on monday morning next week and accompanying him down Broad Stand on his anticlockwise BGR attempt. So I'll probably rig it on sunday late afternoon and bivvy out on Scafell, weather permitting. I almost hesitate to ask but does anyone know if BS is still fixed, or anyone else will be there for rounds and wanting to rig it too?

And just in case anyone asks, he's an accomplished rock and ice climber, caver, and competed in the AR Worlds this year so yes he does know what he's doing and we still think rigging it is worthwhile

    Thanks

    Ben

Mmm. Funny, I passed down there on Monday evening and there were two ropes attached both left from the double attempt last month - one as a fixed rope with gear placed at intervals and knots in the rope, and the other hanging free so you could abseil. Both had laminated cards on the top stating their source.

    Cheers

Mmmm.. my mate who did the rope for my BG on Sun said he had dismantled what was there and took a load ofstuff down. But it does sound like there is some stuff still there in that case then. I was v knackered when he told me this so it looks like crossed wires!!
    Soz for any confusion

    Righto.

Crossed wires makes me even less likely to want to use the fixed line - very bad belay form, crossed wires... nuts in opposition much safer (if more uncomfortable).

    Thanks for the info.

Uncomfortable? Sounds downright painful to me

    Yes I know, very juvenile

Just been up this evening, there was two ropes and a few slings, nuts and krabs left in the corner below broad stand these have now been removed so broad stand is not fixed

If the owners of the gear want it back please send me a private message.

Bill, thanks for the clarification and cleaning. Looks like I'll have the place to myself (in the grease and slime of sunday evening!).
