I was surprised by how small a "country" in terms of population Scotland is (5.3 million). There are as many people in Yorkshire. And there a 10 times more people living in England.

Having said that, Latvia and Lithuania are smaller, so that's no reason why they shouldn't be a separate country.

I would expect the Scottish Yes camp see themselves more like Norway, Finland or Denmark that all have similar populations.
The 3 Baltic States have a standard of living at around 55% that of the EU average.
