It sounds like you've had a good day out. I've not seen the northern bit of the route yet, I'm just fixated on the Struggle and what gearing I'm going to need on the bike. It's amazing, given the climbs, the average speed the fastest cyclists do. I'm just banking on not losing too much time on the swim or bike. I want to practice the descent down Kirkstone though. Bet that was fun on a rental bike!

Big Tri day for me - got my number for Blenheim and ordered wetsuit / trisuit!

If all goes well Helvellyn will be my next stop!

Yeah, with a wobbly headset as well.

It's much more rideable than other descents like Hardknotts etc. If it's dry, barring one or two tight bends with scary walls, the main problem will be not getting stuck behing a slow car.

I'll have to get out and practice it then. Did you get out for a swim then? I'll be in Kendal pool tomorrow. Still not just quite warm enough for me I feel in a lake.

If anyone is interested there is a sprint tri in Kendal in a few weeks...

I've entered but don't have a wetsuit and not keen to splash out (pardon the pun) a couple of hundred quid when i don't know if I'll like Tri.

Any ideas on where I can get a cheap one or hire one?

royles in cheshire do hire of them for about 50 quid a time
But I think TRI uk (they did last year) will hire you one for the year for about the same price.
They are just a bit of trek and you really should try it out before!

I've hired one from triuk, £25 for the season. If you aren't a funny shape (sorry to be personal) then their size charts seem to cater for most people.

I've got mine off ebay for £70. Took a chance on it fitting correctly which paid off. Might fall apart when it hits the water though! All the manufacturers have good sizing charts on their websites so you can get a good idea from that. If I don't think I'll do another one I'll just sell it on. Hiring also sounds like a good option. Do these places charge if they come back damaged?
