    Calderdale Hike 2015

Anyone fancy a recce of some of the new Calderdale Hike route on the 15th or 16th November? There looks to be a fair few route choices to investigate. Maybe Sowerby to Cornholme - the rest is more or less the start of the 2104 route in reverse. I think I'll be allowed out either day - haven't got round to entering the Tour of Pendle.

Having recced some of the new route in the clag today, I'd just like to say it wouldn't be a good idea to follow another runner in similar conditions without checking they'd already recced the route. There were some interesting bits.

There are always 'interesting bits' on the Calderdale, hence the need for reconnoitring (not following). It takes a long time with the to-ing and fro-ing that always seems to occur. I have to recce it in two halves.

Just decided to go out for a canine-assisted recce tomorrow, starting at about 8am from Ripponden, if anyone fancies joining me. Middle of the field pace.

Le Tour des Moulins. Anyway, I've recced it all now. May not be able to do the race though, due to bust wrist.

I've spent the past three days reccying the new Calderdale Hike route and I'm sporting a healthy sun tan as a result. More importantly, it's a right humdinger of a route. I hope the organisers are prepared for a long night at the cricket club and will have many, many search and rescue teams on standby.

Comfort and good fit are number 1 priority. It's drying out nicely though there are still some boggy or muddy patches still around. An all-purpose trail shoe with some cushioning would do fine because there are rocky tracks and lanes as well, a bit of everything really.

It could be interesting, particularly if there's cloud on the moors. Good luck everyone!
