Yeah completely pointless. I just leave mine on the shoe rack to partly become marginally less wet for tomorrow's run. I only run in one pair of shoes at a time (inov8 265's) and in the winter I don't think my shoes ever get dry. I do often end runs with a paddle in a beck though so the mud does get washed off periodically

I have to admit most of my shoes live outside the front door, if they're wet they're wet and if they're dry they're not wet :-) I've had the neighbours down the road return my barefoots before after a particularly windy night :-)
