    Corpulent to 'core

Two years of very little training and too much over indulgence culminated in an embarrassing performance at the West Ardnamurchan Show hill race yesterday. I was blowing out my back-side within seconds of setting off. Okay so the can of cider I had after avoiding coming last in the earlier "flat dash" probably didn't help, but it's surely time I got back to regular training. What do I do, bearing I've got at least 20lbs to lose and a very long way to go?

I was running with Dick last night - he whispered in my ear that I was getting fitter

train train train... diet diet diet...

personally I find it easier to keep the diet in check when training regularly... if laid up due to injury or recovery, the diet quickly goes AWOL... for that reason I would say it is far better to (for example) train for 1 hour 6 days a week, as opposed to training for 3 hours twice a week...

if you can get both training and diet in a good state, at the same time, then results can be surprisingly quick...

    Remember this...

I think you'll piss it if you get your head in the game, you're not far off being as thin as me there. I'd hit the fat burning hard, marginal gains, diet, superfoods...get the weight off. Don't hit your running too hard until you're at the right weight, that would be my angle anyway, lots of bike riding.

Drop me a line if you want to join in with my antics any time. You'll need to be back properly though and training regularly as i don't hang around most of the time, but don't go lightening fast either. I can't promise it'll be easy, but i can crack the whip and give you someone to chase down.

I'm certainly jealous - love it up there and stayed on Loch Sunart a few times. I'd quite happily come last to be able to take part in the race
I'd recommend changing the cider to Guinness and I think you'll see a marked improvement.
