Thanks to all those who turned up and ran on a damp night: I think it was a near record-breaking turnout. It was a bit windy marshalling on the top, but worth it to see all your smiling (and gurning) faces

I have to say the finish line spread was one of the best yet, not only was there the usual weak cordial but bottles of water and sugary delights. Most impressed, thanks!
Surely this is the last hill, right...

Great race and very well organised race. Such cherful marshalls. And agree fantastic spread at finish especially those nacho chips or whatever they are called. Many thanks

Lovely race on a perfect evening yesterday. It was good to get back to this after a 5 year break. I like this race because we get to see the leaders racing back down from Eccles Pike as we still slog our way upwards. I caught some impressive action shots, which I only realised afterwards when I came to upload them. There's a chance extreme close-up of ba-ba (brace yourselves) Photos.

Thanks to Goyt Valley Striders for excellent organisation once again.

One of my favourite races this, even if you have to avoid the paparazzi on the way down

My first go at Eccles Pike last night. Apart from the tarmacy bits at the start and finish some lovely running terrain and a couple of steepish climbs/descents. I got stung on my chest by something on the way up and by the time I finished I was feeling a bit woozy.

A quick scoot down the canal towpath to Tesco's where the anti histamine did the trick. I managed to get back for the presentation and my Running Bear voucher for 1st M60.

The winner was William Longden of Buxton AC in 22:11 and the first lady was Harriet Wingfield of Dark Peak, 13th o/a in 25.29. I got home in 21st place in 27:37.

A well organised event and a good pint of Desert Storm, 4.2% from Storm Brewing.

Eccles Pike is one of my favourite AS races, super fast and nowhere to hide in 25mins of all out attack. Had some memorable battles there before, including a 4-way Pennine tussle more than a decade ago including Daz Holloway

    Oh! I never ran it.

I wonder if 75+ is too old for a comeback?

    Not on your nelly Graham.

There was a M80 running on Wednesday. A chap by the name of Trevor Faulkner from Wilmslow Running Club.

He got around in 52.33 and there were 7 runners behind him. He was also wearing a baseball cap back to front. rolleyes:

See you on the start line next year!

Surely the prize at Eccles Pike should be an Eccles cake?
In his lifetime he suffered from unreality, as do so many Englishmen.
