Can't get my head around why this race has become so popular in recent years. I first took part in 2002, and sent away entry in the last week of April. The paps are a joy to run over.

Probably a combination of being a Scotland counter this year and also entries being through SI. Filling out a form on SI is much easier than printing out a form and posting it, so I reckon a lot enter "just in case" as they don't want to miss out if they are free.

Obviously that doesn't count for previous years, but I seem to remember I was pretty late getting my entry in in 2014 and, though on the waiting list at first, soon found myself with a place.

Looks like I'm in. Time to get on Google Earth and see if I can find a decent line off the last of the Paps. 4th time's the charm right?

Just hope the successful entries that haven't run before and our "elite" friends spend money on the island. Going across on the rib on race morning and going back after the race won't really help the island. Shame that wasn't a consideration in the organisers decision. ( yes I didn't get in!)
