    It's Leicestershire's second highest point (no less), at 814ft, . . .
    An oft-repeated claim, Josh, but have a look at the OS 1:25000 map:

    1. Bardon Hill 278m
    2. Birch Hill (near Copt Oak) 254m
    3= Beacon Hill 248m
    3= Timberwood Hill 248m

    For me, it's Clougha Pike. Again some fantastic views on a clear day:- Across Morecambe Bay into the Lake District; up the Lune Valley to the Western Dales & the Howgills; around Black Combe to the I-o-M; down across Liverpool Bay into Snowdonia - there's one point where you can see right through the Menai Straits, between Snowdonia and the lesser hills of Anglesey. Back in the day when I was really keen, I was up there every Saturday morning, pre-breakfast; not to mention many Sunday afternoons & mid-week evenings. Now that I'm doing more cycling than running, I'm mindful of just how long it's been since I was last up there - must get up there, once this cold virus has been got shut of.
    I was a bit of an oddball until I was abducted by aliens; but I'm perfectly OK now!

    Joint third highest! I like it even more now.

    The Sugar Loaf. Up there today and, just like Ed, was treated to a spectacular cloud inversion. Grey and gloomy in the valley, sparkling sunshine at the summit. Just fabulous. Back in the day, I ran this 595 metre hill every day as I worked at its base. Now, I just get there whenever I can. I always know if I,m back in the groove if I can get up the steep end without stopping.
